The Plainfield Town and Education Budgets passed last night by a wide Margin, which means very little cuts to the BOE budget! Read about it here!
Thanks to all of the teacher-residents who came out in force with their families to vote, as well as non-resident teachers that still came to show their support!
As a thank you to all of your hard work, I have 2 special gifts!
Some PEA Swag; A free sign that has some nice apolitical slogans to hang in your room! Stop by my room at PCMS (208) or buzz a friend at PCMS to grab one!
No more emails from me! With the end of the year, I want to thank you all for putting up with my emails (or marking them as junk or deleting them 😄). Enjoy a few months without any pun-filled gems that I send out! Please check out www.Plainfieldteachers.org along with our social media for any summer news, and don't forget that the CEA/NEA sites have discounts on travel and local activities 😊.

PEA Rallies against Budget Cuts!
22May2024
Yesterday the Plainfield Education Association rallied at the Plainfield Town Hall in response to a failed Board of Education Budget, and the Board of Finance meeting to propose motions to adjust the budget.
There was a budget vote for Plainfield town and the BOE on Monday the 21st, and only 5% of the eligible voting residents turned up for it, so the BOE budget failed by 75 votes.
As the BOF met yesterday, the PEA turned up to show support for the BOE budget, and to show the town that we as professional educators are here to fight for our town, our kids, and our jobs.
The BOF passed a motion to pass on $170,000 of cuts to the budget to the BOE. Our BOE had already made cuts before the failure of the Budget vote fail. Our superintendent Paul Brenton said at the meeting when asked about trying to cut money, that his office and the BOE would have to start looking at personnel as they’ve cut everything else they could.
There will be a town open forum for residents to speak about this proposed motion on May 28th at 7pm at the Plainfield Town Hall, and the PEA is campaigning to have a show of force, and to have as many resident teachers and parents speak about how cutting an additional 170k from the budget will hurt our Teachers, Staff, Students, and our town.
Represent Windham County and enjoy some vino!
